Welcome Letter From MAHA President
Welcome and Congratulations,
Today officially marks a momentous achievement. We as an association have been fortunate enough to receive our own USA hockey number. This was not an easy feat, there have been years of blood, sweat and an insane amount of tears from so many people within MAHA to achieve this recognition. In reality, this is exactly what this is, Recognition! We have been recognized by the Midwest Affiliate and identified as an association who has earned the opportunity to help grow the game of hockey further within Kansas City. To put this into perspective, this is the first USA hockey number granted within the last several years at this level within this three-state affiliate.
What does this mean for the kids and parents? It means WE are our are own organization who manifests its own destiny together. We will continue to operate congruently with our house and high school programs playing members from KCYHA as well throughout the Mid-West Affiliate. The AA travel program through agreement with KCYHA will be housed within MAHA as well and will continue to operate as is with the same coaching staff.
We are currently working in tandem l with our peer organization the KCYHA, to ensure that all the needs of the members are met to grow the game together in unity. I personally want to thank Mike Curry, Mike Jones, and Dan Carrier for all their help and support through this process, they have been instrumental in pursuing the success of the hockey experience within Kansas City.
As we move forward, communication will increase and become more interactive as we construct the grow MAHA’s website. We are a family and want all members to feel they are a part of it. As we grow together, we encourage engagement within, let’s help each other build together, develop together, and create an environment for THIS FAMILY that will serve to shape our children lives forever.
I know, I rambled, but this is an emotional moment for myself as well as all those who have served for years to get this opportunity. We appreciate everyone, for everything that they’ve done and will do in the future. This sport is such an amazing sport, it has the ability to bring people together for a short amount of time creating a bond of a family that we will all remember forever.
Alright, now I’m finished rambling and will get to it. The website MAHA-KC.com is live. Look to the site for all the information needed, if you don’t have what you need there’s contact information, never hesitate to reach out and give us perspective on how we can improve. New information will be added daily.
